background
Born and raised on Chicago's "South Side", Jimmy comes from a large half Puerto Rican, half Mexican American family. His mother was pregnant for nine years in a row! He is the middle child of five remaining children. Working since the seventh grade, he has experienced many opportunities: stock boy earning one dollar an hour, set up crew for a restaurant, automobile salesman, electrician's apprentice and handyman. For four years he owned a record company called World Record dealing in vinyl, eight tracks, cassettes, and stereo equipment. He was a real estate broker for fourteen years and a trainer for sales people in real estate sales technique. A partner in Music Unlimited, he was one of the very first mobile DJs of the time, spinning music for ten tears. He taught seventh grade CCD (Christian Children Development) for four years, and even had a year "stint" in the seminary. With his passion for bodybuilding and health, he became a personal trainer in 1985. Now a master trainer for a select few, he continues to enhance the lives of others.
His experience in training sales people led him to create a class, in both New York and Chicago, for actors called Acting is a Business, a much needed program teaching the business side of show business. Actors learned marketing (self promotion), people skills, time management, scheduling, motivation, and effective speaking skills.
In 1987 Jimmy found his passion as an actor. After cutting his teeth in the Chicago theatre scene, he closed his real estate office of fourteen years and moved to New York in 1996 to pursue his career as a full time professional actor.
"My favorite pastimes are cooking, people watching, bodybuilding, meditation, and spending time with close friends and family. After so many years of work and life lessons, I now realize that I am blessed with the gift of time and I am truly able to enjoy and experience the simple pleasures."
